The Moonshine Story

Nestled in the heart of Byron Bay’s hinterland, Byron Moonshine Coffee is more than just a roastery - it's a family owned and run business. We’ve always believed in doing coffee the right way, making sure every cup we serve is as good as the last. It’s not just about the brew; it’s about the people we share it with.

Moonshine Coffee Our Story Federal

Our roots? They trace back to the village of Federal, where we got our hands dirty both on the coffee farm and behind the roaster. It's safe to say we know our beans inside and out, from soil to cup. And yep, we’ve spent as much time on a tractor as behind an espresso machine. That’s the Moonshine way.

2016 was a big year for us. We traded our coffee farm for Fred’s rustic mechanic shed smack in the heart of Federal. Since then, our team's grown, and so has our passion. Whether you’re grabbing a cup at our espresso bar or spotting us in cafes from Sydney to South Korea, that distinct Moonshine taste is unmistakable.

Fast forward to 2020, and our journey led us to Kangaroo Point in Brisbane, and later to a new roastery, HQ and cafe in the country town of Billinudgel. Different locations, same Moonshine spirit.

About Our Brew:

Coffee's more than just a drink for us; it’s an experience. As roasters we have built our approach to coffee with the customer in mind. We strive to deliver a coffee that is sustainable, approachable and consistently delicious.

Moonshine Coffee About Our Brew

Our process starts with a quality raw product and a clear vision of what we want to achieve in the cup. Each small batch of Moonshine is then roasted by hand and evaluated using all five senses and a little bit of science (of course).

Teaming up with the folks at Langdon Coffee Merchants means we get to work with some of the best coffee growers around the globe. It’s all about mutual respect, and a shared goal: delivering quality coffee, transparently and sustainably. With every sip of Moonshine, know you’re part of that journey.
